Get to Know Dr. Kim Nichols

The doctor is in—and she’s amazing! Meet Dr. Kim Nichols, Avon’s new consulting dermatologist. She graduated cum laude from Harvard University, attended NYU’s School of Medicine, maintains a practice in Greenwich, Connecticut, named NicholsMD of Greenwich, and is a mom of three. Now, she’s bringing her incredible knowledge and experience to you. Ready to get to know her a little better? We caught up with Dr. Nichols to talk skincare secrets, anti-agers that really work, and of course, all things Avon.

Congrats on your new partnership with Avon! How does it feel?

“I’m very excited! Avon is such an iconic brand that has helped so many women look and feel their best over the years. I remember both my mom and grandmother being called on by Avon when I was growing up! Avon really has the best, most scientifically-proven products, and I’m looking forward to introducing them to the Representatives and customers.”

Did you always know you wanted to be a dermatologist?

“I always knew I wanted to be a physician. It was in med school that I fell in love with skincare and dermatology. I loved the mix of taking care of skin and helping women to feel more confident.”

What three things should every woman be doing if they want better skin?

“Number one, make sure you’re washing your face two times a day to remove dead skin, makeup, and any pollutants that may have gotten on your skin during the day. Number two, start thinking about anti-aging early—in your 20s and 30s—so you can be preventative. And number three, use sunscreen. Every ethnicity and every skin color needs to use an SPF with UVA and UVB protection every single day.”

What’s the biggest mistake women make with their skin?

“Over-exfoliating. If you scrub too much, you risk getting rid of essential oils and lipids. Exfoliate two to three times a week, max. And always be careful and use a gentle exfoliant—no harsh beads or grains.”

What are some of the top anti-aging ingredients everyone should be using?

“The number one is retinol. It’s been around forever and it’s the best for keeping skin cells turning over, Avon’s ANEW Clinical Line Eraser with Retinol Treatment is a great product to use. It’s also very important to use antioxidants, and vitamin C has been proven to be one of the top ones. I really love the ANEW Vitamin C Brightening Serum. Some vitamin Cs are not pure or have too low of a percentage. But this has 10 percent vitamin C and is the best you can get.”

Do you have a favorite Avon product?

“Yes—the new ANEW Ultimate Supreme Advanced Performance Cream. It has a luxurious feel and incredible anti-aging ingredients, including Tahitian Black Pearl, which is one of the rarest gems in the world.”
