Holiday time means family and friends, gingerbread lattes, and lots and lots of shopping. We asked Emily Seagren, an Avon Representative for the past ten years, to share her tips for celebrating right, maximizing sales, and of course, finding the best presents for your customers, and maybe even, for you!
What’s your favorite thing about the holiday season?
“I love the nostalgia that Avon products bring to so many customers, and I also love that the holiday season is a time for giving. Avon has perfect gifts for all ages, for men and women, and for everyone on your list.”
What are some of your own favorite holiday traditions?
“For me, holidays are all about going out of my way to show those around me how much I appreciate them. My favorite part is watching family open the special gifts I have picked out for them. And my favorite tradition is leaving out cookies and milk for Santa on Christmas Eve. The set that we leave out came from Avon!”
What kind of prep do you do to set up your business for holiday success?
“The longer I am an Avon Representative, the earlier I start planning for holiday sales. I invest in extra catalogs, samples, and other sales tools. We make up our own gift sets and offer gift wrapping. And I take the time to share everything I’m doing for face-to-face customers on social media to grow my online customer base. It only takes an extra few minutes to take a photo and put together a short video to further reach and attract those online holiday shoppers.”
What are your best tips for maximizing sales this time of year?
“First, host a holiday open house to display featured products and demos of gift sets and holiday décor. Second, find holiday helpers to collect orders for you and boost sales. Third, have a Facebook party! You find a hostess and she invites her Facebook friends, then you have fun by doing giveaways and games. Fourth, go live on Facebook or on YouTube to show new products and attract new customers. And finally, be in a cheery mood. Excitement attracts customers, leads, and team members.”
Do you do anything special for your best customers around this time of year?
“Every year I create a Christmas card highlighting my year in Avon. It’s a perfect way to say thank you to all of my loyal customers who shop with me year round. People are so busy these days, so a little extra customer service and a friendly thank you make a big difference.”
If one of your customers was looking for some fun new makeup for a holiday party, what products would you suggest?
“I like to play with the colors and mix up my eyeshadow and lipstick depending on what type of event I’m going to and what I’m wearing. If a customer is looking for a small stocking stuffer or Secret Santa gift, what would you suggest?
“For stocking stuffers, I love our holiday mini hand creams and lip balms. Makeup is the perfect size for stockings, too, and Avon True Color Glimmersticks, Avon True Color Glazewear Lip Glosses, and mascara are great for gifting young girls. For Secret Santa gifts, I would recommend one of our fragrance- or bath and body gift sets. They are priced just right and are a great value.”
