For last night’s look on the “Menswear” episode of Project Runway, makeup artist Hector Simancas highlighted one of fall’s biggest trends: wine-colored lips. Perfect for the season, these deep, rich shades are sophisticated, mysterious, and nearly as intoxicating as a glass of merlot. Here’s how to recreate the look.
Grab your brush and dust a beige eyeshadow over your lids, then blend a deep brown shadow up and into the crease. For this look, Simancas used Avon True Color Eyeshadow Singles in Beige and Black Brown. Pro tip: Apply eyeshadow before putting on foundation and concealer. Since applying powder shadows can be a messy job, tackling your eyes first means you’ll be able to wipe away any powder residue that falls onto your cheeks without messing up your foundation.
A super skinny strip of black liquid liner is a classic trick that subtly, but noticeably defines your eyes. For this look, paint a thin black line along your upper lashlines with Avon True Color SuperExtend Precise Liquid Pen in Black.
After applying lip balm, trace your lips with Avon True Color Glimmersticks Lip Liner in Chocolate. Moisturizing before applying color means your products will go on easier, look better (no flakes!), and last longer.
Slick a creamy, wine-colored shade like Avon True Color Lipstick in Oxford Wine all over your lips.
To give the look dimension, add a pop of red lipstick (Simancas chose Avon’s Cherry Jubilee) in the center of the lips and blend outward.
